Why Lithium Ions Batterys need special voltage regulators?
A common problem is changing from lead-acid to lithium-ion batteries without using the right regulator.
It is important to know that the charging voltage and the charging properties of a LiFePo4 battery are completely different from those of a lead-acid battery.
Using the OEM Regulator with a LiFePo4 battery can lead to overloading and failure of the battery. A faulty battery can cause the on-board voltage to rise to 80V, since there is no energy dump for the generator. Connected components including the mo.unit will be damaged.
If the horn sounds while riding without pressing the horn button, your on-board voltage is above 18V. Stop immediately and fix the issue.
