mo.unit - Horn activated at increased rpm

If the horn sounds or all outputs are switched on while driving or standing still, there is probably an overvoltage in the on-board power supply.

If the voltage exceeds 18 volts the mo.unit will signal this by sounding the horn. If the voltage is much higher the mo.unit will switch on all outputs for self-protection to prevent damage.

Error Cause:

  •  Charge controller defective

Especially with older motorcycles a defective charge controller is the most common problem.
Therefore measure the voltage which exists in the on-board power supply at increased speed. The maximum charge voltage should not exceed 14.8 V.
A fuse does not help in case of overvoltage, the mo.unit can still be damaged.

  • Power supply of the mo.unit not sufficiently fixed

If the leads to battery +12V or to ground are not well attached, loose contacts and dangerous voltage peaks may occur. For this purpose, it is recommended to attach another cable to the negative pole of the battery in addition to the connection to ground of the vehicle.

  •  Loose contacts due to vibrations

Check all connections, vibrations can loosen plug connections and screw connections.

  •  Mechanical forces

If the mo.unit is mounted on a mounting plate, please check if the mo.unit is tilted or fixed under mechanical tension. The mo.unit should lie flat and be adequately secured.
