motoscope - Speed sensor

There are several sensors which can be used, but we recommend the supplied sensor with the article number 9007032.

Installation:

  • stick one or more magnets to the wheel of your motorcycle with 2 component glue like epox.
  • if there are two or more magnets, pay attention to the alignment, place two magnets 180 degrees, three magnets 120 degrees, four magnets 90 degrees, and so on.
  • Optional there are also screws with magnetic head with M8 and M6 thread. These can be found in our webshop on the product pages under the tab Accessories/Sensors
  • Sensor attached to motorcycle and secured with screw adhesive

the holding plate should not be magnetizable, aluminum is best suited for this

The alignment of the sensor is particularly important. The distance between the sensor tip and the magnet should not exceed 4mm, but the magnet must not touch the sensor either!

Adjust the motoscope:

  • Set ImpW / Pulse to the number of magnets
  • Circ should correspond to the rolling circumference, on the last page of the manual is a list of the common tire sizes
  • If the present tire dimming is not included in the table, the tire circumference must be determined by measuring.

All necessary information for mounting and calibration can be found in the motoscope manual.

TEACH function:

If the supplied speedometer sensor is not used, the installed speedometer sensor must be taught with the TEACH function.

  • Connecting the speedometer sensor
  • Move the motorcycle to make sure the sensor is detected
  • Call up the Setup menu and navigate to the TEACH item
  • Drive 50 Km/h (31 mph) and confirm TEACH

The process takes about 5 seconds.

Proximity sensor:

We also offer proximity sensors, these do not require magnets but a sufficiently large rotating metal part to function properly. The setup of this sensor is more demanding than with a reed contact sensor. Before buying, it should be checked what kind of signal the motoscope needs, we only offer sensors for mass-active devices in the form (NPN sensor). Reed-contact sensors can be switched plus- and minus-active.

BMW air-cooled boxer engines:

We also offer a sensor for older BMW air-cooled boxer engines with speedometer shaft on the gearbox.
