motoscope classic - Pointer does not move
The large analog tachometers have a servo motor which moves the pointer.
When the ignition is activated, the pointer only moves back to the initial position if it is not already there.
Pointer does not make full deflection when switching on.
To test the pointer deflection please proceed as follows:
On motoscope classic and Chronoclassic the pointer indicates the engine speed / RPM.
- Switch on the motoscope (red cable to +12V and black cable to ground)
- Quickly tap the yellow cable (with extension) against ground
The pointer should now deflect and return to zero when the yellow cable is no longer tapped to ground.
On motoscope classic speedo and Chronoclassic speedo the pointer indicates the speed.
- Switch on the motoscope (red cable to +12V and black cable to ground)
- In the settings of the motoscope set the value for WHLSIZE to 2000 and ImpWHL to 1.
- Exit Setup Menu
- Quickly tap the orange cable against ground
The pointer should now deflect and return to zero when the orange cable is no longer tapped to ground.
For older motoscopes a Plus Active Signal is required. If the test to ground was not successful, tap the orange cable to +12V.
If the pointer still does not move during the test, the servomotor or signal input may be defective.
